Atlantic Club - The Real Deal :
The death spiral of bankruptcy and a string of different owners didn't treat the old Atlantic City Hilton very well. Now, with another new name - the Atlantic Club Casino Hotel - and management team, the once adrift property seems to have righted itself and set sail on (hopefully) a bright new future. New dining, refreshed hotel rooms, renovated public areas are all in the cards for the House That Steve Built.
Location of Atlantic Club:
Atlantic Club Casino Hotel is located at the south western end of the Boardwalk, with its only neighbor being the Tropicana to the north. Atlantic City history buffs should note the sites for the former Dunes AC and Sahara AC are directly to the south on the Boardwalk.
Atlantic Club is NearTropicana
Cool Stuff About Atlantic Club:
Atlantic Club History
The original Hilton in Atlantic City never actually opened, it's gaming license was denied and the property was taken over by Donald Trump and named the Trump Castle (now Trump Marina). The current Atlantic City Hilton was opened in 1980 by none other than the grand casino master himself Steve Wynn. After years of regulatory squabble, Wynn opted out and sold the Nugget to Ballys Manufacturing who changed the name of the joint to Ballys Grand in 1987. The money from the sale of the AC Nugget gave Wynn the capital to build Mirage and eventually Treasure Island, Bellagio, Beau Rivage and eventually his crowning achievement Wynn Las Vegas and Wynn Macau. Ballys changed the name of Bally's Grand to The Grand shortly before being aquired by Hilton Hotels. Which eventually sold the Ballys name to Park Place/Caesars who has recently been swallowed up by Harrah's to create the largest gaming company on the planet. Recently, the Atlantic City Hilton went bankrupt, lost the Hilton affiliation, changed its name to the ACH and a year later changed it again to the Atlantic Club Casino. Times is hard.
The Rooms at Atlantic Club
With 800 deluxe hotel rooms that overlook the Atlantic Ocean, you really can't go wrong here. The Atlantic Club might be a little out of the way as far as other casinos go, but this relative isolation is a good thing - less insanity, a more calming atmosphere and a hotel which needs to compete for business.
The Atlantic Club's room offerings come in two categories, the Deluxe - standard, clean, nicely appointed and reasonably spacious rooms for an older property - and a quartet of suite offerings. Corner Suites are similar to the Deluxe, yet 50% larger and with two different views of the ocean and surrounding landscape. Executive Suites feature sitting rooms, king beds and a luxurious jacuzzi tub bathroom... delicious. For those requiring private bedrooms, Atlantic Club has One and Two Bedroom Suites which come in king, dual queen or double double configurations. Both suites feature luxurious living areas, plush bathrooms and a gigantic TV to watch the game on.
