Golden Nugget - The Real Deal :

The rebirth of the Golden Nugget Atlantic City is nothing short of remarkable. Within the span of a year, the entire hotel has been completely renovated, dining options completely replaced and the casino has been mostly renovated. The energy put into the property by the new ownership is creating excitement throughout the property. Highly recommended.

Golden Nugget History

The Golden Nugget Atlantic City has very interesting origins. It was originally built as an Atlantic City Hilton, but New Jersey Gaming regulators denied the AC Hilton a gaming license. The property was purchased by Donald Trump for $320 million dollars and opened as Trump Castle in 1985. In 1997 Mr. Trump changed the name of Trump Castle to Trump Marina and refurbished and upgraded the hotel and casino. Trump Entertainment sold Trump Marina in 2008 to a consortium of investors who plan on refurbishing and changing it's name to Margaritaville. A year later, that deal came undone as the economy collapsed. In February 2011, Trump Entertainment sold Trump Marina to Landry's Restaurants for a paltry $38M, who plan on turning it into a Golden Nugget. The original Golden Nugget Atlantic City is now the Atlantic City Hilton. How about that for an inside out switcheroo!

If you have the loot, and don't want to stay at Borgata, or the new tower at Harrah's Resort Atlantic City, Golden Nugget's Bay Tower is a great option for opulence and space. Bay Tower suites feature plush modern furnishings, pillowtop mattresses, marble floors, flat panel tv's and a ton of other gizmos. The entire hotel room renovation is slated to be completed by spring 2012.
