Game Over: Sands AC closed on November 11, 2006
Opened as the Brighton Casino on August 31, 1980, the Brighton (named after its cross street) was virtually bankrupt before it even took one wager. The Brighton was taken over and converted into Sands AC in May 1981. The Sands Atlantic City is owned by the same folks who own the Stratosphere in Las Vegas nad Arizona Charlie's.
Update: The Sands Atlantic City was purchased by Pinnacle Entertainment in 2006. It closed on November 11, 2006 to make way for a new, as yet un named, resort.
