Tropicana - The Real Deal :
The Tropicana was once described by a great casino historian as the ugliest casino ever built. On the outside, indeed, the Tropicana looks like an urban prison, nothing a little paint couldn't fix though - how about something in South Beach bold? But who are we to judge a book by its cover, we don't come to Atlantic City to stare at the outside of the buildings do we? It is the inside that counts and between the covers the Tropicana has awesome in spades. Gaming, nightlife, dining, shopping and one of the stranger hotel rooms in all of Atlantic City.
Location of Tropicana:
Tropicana is located towards the south western end of the Boardwalk, easily walkable from neighbors Trump Plaza to the north east and the Atlantic Club to the south west.
Cool Stuff About Tropicana:
The Tropicana opened towards the end of the first wave of Atlantic City casino construction on November 23, 1981. Over the ensuing years a handful of additions completed the property - the South Tower opened in 1988 and massive shopping district The Quarter opened in 2004 to satisfy the need for retail therapy. In the late 2000's the Tropicana fell on difficult times with then owner Columbia Sussex forced out by New Jersey Regulators and the property shifting hands at auction or bankruptcy proceedings. Along with the rest of Atlantic City, the Tropicana seems to have found its sea legs once again.
The Rooms at Tropicana
Tropicana features four hotel towers - North Tower, Havana Tower, South Tower (Tropicana Tower), West Tower . Rooms come in different designs in each tower. The North Tower Standard features slightly upgraded decor and furnishings set in a larger space with sitting area and comes in king and dual double configurations, request a corner room so you can get panoramic views of the ocean and Boardwalk. The South Tower Premium Suite is a much larger footprint room with sitting areas, ample windows with upgraded modern decor and pillow top mattresses and fresh bedding. The Park Avenue Suite features modern decor in a sleek suite with sitting rooms, a lounge with piano, a gigantic bedroom with valet, four post beds and an in-room fireplace. Snazzy!
