I can hear Monty Hall now.... "Does anybody have a hair brush? I'll give you $20 for a hairbrush! How about an excellent track record operating tribal casinos? I'll entertain bids on the Tropicana Atlantic City if you've got a tribal casino... any takers?"

The Press of AC is reporting that Mohegan Sun's tribal operators have expressed interest in purchasing the Tropicana Atlantic City at auction.

I think our brand is well-established with many of the customers that visit Atlantic City today. We like the regulated environment, and I think we can be a good addition to the Atlantic City market. - Jeffrey Hartmann CEO of Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority

If Mohegan Sun is successful, it will be the first casino in a major gaming center to be owned by a tribal gaming authority. Mohegan Sun's competitor Foxwoods has partnered with MGMMirage on a new resort on their property in Connecticut as well as collaborated on plans, since rejected by local regulators, for a casino resort in Chisholm Creek, Kansas.

Meanwhile, a hundred miles to the south, the Baltimore Sun is reporting that Gomes + Cordish Gaming Management LLC has expressed interest in purchasing the Tropicana Atlantic City. Gomes + Cordish LLC is a partnership between Cordish Company, the folks responsible for building Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood and Tampa, Florida and former Tropicana AC boss during the Aztar era (pre Columbia Sussex) Dennis Gomes. Gomes was recently mentioned as a possible suitor for Trumps ailing empire in Atlantic City, but talks of the sale stalled shortly after Trump opened his mouth about it to the press.

James Packer's Crown Limited has also been mentioned as a possible suitor for the Tropicana Atlantic City. Crown Limited are owners of a handful of casinos in Australia, Las Vegas' Cannery Casinos as well as being partners on two gorgeous properties in Macau - Crown Macau and City of Dreams.

Regardless of whomever buys the Tropicana Atlantic City, I can only hope that their first order of business is painting over those horrible stripes. Please?
