MGMMirage announced today that Bill Hornbuckle, current Prez of Mandalay Bay, has been strapped into the drivers seat of MGM Grand Atlantic City. Hornbuckle has been the man in charge of numerous high rolling Vegas properties in his tenured career in the gaming biz, including stints at Caesars Palace and MGM Grand LV. Congrats Bob, er, Bill! Hope you like living in Jersey.

In addition to the Hornbuckle announcement, MGMMirage also noted that MGM Grand AC is on track to break ground towards the end of 2008 and open in early 2012, probably around the time that Pinnacle Entertainment makes some kind of announcement about the Sands AC site. (Yawn.)

MGMMirage also noted that MGM-AC will be connected to Borgata by a walkway, will feature a 7,500 seat concert arena - \m/_ - and raised the price tag of the joint to approximately $5 Biiiiilion Dollars. HOLY CRAP. Thats about as much as City Center, and two Wynn Las Vegas'. Wow.

Comments & Discussion:

I really hope this isn't another MGM Atlantic City tease. This is at least the 3rd time they've announced plans for A.C. Also, with the current credit crunch, do they have the financing to proceed?

MGM Grand AC's rapid advancement is a direct result of MGMMirage's sale of City Center to Dubai World. Unless war breaks out or Atlantic City is overrun by plague or tidal waves, this thing is gonna happen.
