Poker Stars In Talks To Buy Atlantic Club

Wow... here's a shocker. PokerStars.com, the online poker website known for skirting U.S. laws against online gambling, has entered in talks with Colony Capital to purchase the Atlantic Club.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the proposed price is "less than $50 million."

The price seems a little high considering Landry's paid $38m for the much nicer and better located Trump Marina (now the Golden Nugget).

But what will Poker Stars do with a land based casino that experienced casino operators can't? Nothing.

This is a non-starter. Even if Poker Stars buys it and it gets approved by the CCC, they'll have no idea how to run the joint.
