Revel Construction, Water Club Reservations, AC Gateway = Atlantic City Beach Resort and Casino

I apologize for the delay in continuing the Tropicana Soap Opera, I've been sucked into the Macau stuff and the million other things going on in the gamblin' biz.

Here's a coupla quick little tidbits that have been in the news the last few weeks that deserve to be looked at:

Revel In Dirt

Revel construction is well underway with the property covered by hundreds of construction workers, cranes, bulldozers and other earth movers. Exciting! The Press of AC has updates on this, the Taj tower and some of the other projects.

Water Club at Borgata

The Water Club at Borgata is now taking reservations for July 1st. Here's the rates their charging for the 'Club Room' in July:

WaterClub at Borgata Room Rates

Mid-week room rates range from $329-349, with weekends ranging from $479-$609. Holy Crap!

The rooms are pretty darn spiffy though.

Water Club at Borgata Ocean View Club Room

One of the features I found most compelling about the Water Club's offerings is the infinity pool located inside the Immersion Spa on the 32nd floor of the hotel tower. Crown Macau had a similar set up with a great view of a tacky casino across the street. With rack rates in the Bellagio range, one can assume that the Spa at Water Club will most likely curl your toes.

AC Gateway LLC

Thanks to CityBOOM reader Rushmore for sending us a link to an interview with AC Gateway LLC head honcho Curtis Bashaw wherein he discusses ACG's plan for the former Dunes, Sands and ACHS sites. The project is now going under the name Atlantic Beach Resort and Casino which is about as interesting as eating a sandwich made of sand with a side-order of seagull droppings. C'mon guys.

Some notable details revealed in the article include: 2,000 room hotel tower at 832 feet, 210k sq ft of casino (huge), almost twice as much retail and convention/meeting space. Price tag: $1.5-2B. Which seems a little conservative for a supertall tower. Bashaw says that construction could begin in 2009 depending on (drum roll please) the global credit crisis! I'm sure that our friend Dr. David Schwartz will rumple when he finds out that his alma mater, the old Atlantic City High School will become a parking garage. Progress!
